The Story Behind The Transformation

Located in Richmond, one of London’s most desirable residential areas, Thompson Avenue presented an opportunity to rethink the potential of an existing semi-detached home and its surrounding land.

Originally a three-bedroom residence with a generous garden, the property was reimagined as a cohesive development of three contemporary homes through a carefully considered combination of extension and new-build design.

The project required a sensitive response to the established character of the neighbourhood while introducing additional residential density. ATCO developed the architectural strategy from the early concepts and planning process through technical coordination, interior and landscape design, Building Control, and construction management.

Rather than treating the existing property and new development as separate elements, the design approach sought to create a unified architectural composition that responded to the scale, character, and rhythm of the surrounding streetscape.

By combining strategic planning with detailed design and delivery, ATCO unlocked the development potential of the site while creating three contemporary homes and a cohesive addition to the Richmond neighbourhood. The project demonstrates ATCO’s approach to identifying opportunities within existing residential properties and translating them into considered, high-value developments.
